I love this instrument!

This lovely horn was delivered to me just a few days ago, here in California, and I absolutely love it. It is built with precision- the seams are very tight, almost invisible when the horn is assembled. In fact, I’d say that it looks more expensive than it actually is- smooth, clean and gorgeous. The sound, for me at least, it surprisingly brassy given that it is made of wood, especially in the upper register. In the lower it mellows out to deliver more of a French Horn sound. I am a euphonium player, but thus far I have found it relatively easy to make the switch. The mouthpiece is smaller than a euphonium’s but still accessible for me. Building a firm emboucher is necessary, but playing this horn is such a joy that practice is a pleasure. I strongly recommend this instrument to anyone who, like me, has always dreamed of playing an alphorn. Thank you, Thomann!

Ein wirklich tolles Instrument
Anonymous 10.08.2016
